Post-50

Well, it’s come and gone: the big 5-0.

And today, the day after my 50th, what have I started to think about?

Turning 51.

Yes, I am a mental case…

Truly certifiable…

On the other hand, any other post-50 year olds feel like they’re really more along the lines of 10 years old? Or 18?

Yes, I am a mentally thirteen and physically seventy-five…

  1. Happy Birthday! I hear ya…50 hurt. You realize everything is falling faster than you can pick it up. Now if I sleep in a little longer than normal all my muscle tone is spread all over the sheets. Not a pretty sight! Enjoy the last day of your birthday month!

  2. I’ll be turning 51 (gasp!) in a few weeks. I have the sense of humor of a twelve-year-old boy, though, so it’s all good.

    Oh, and happy birthday!

  3. Happy Birthday! I am turning 62 on the 29th of this month and until a week ago was feeling a bit ambiguous about it…until I had lunch at Applebee’s one day. In the booth next to me was a middle-aged woman and a much older woman. The much older woman was beautiful however, though looked rather frail. As they were getting up to leave, the younger of the two announced to their waitperson that the other woman was turning 101 years old within a week. Those of us in hearing distance clapped politely. Wow, I thought. 101 is nearly 40 years distant of my current age…that’s quite a long time to do so many things I still want to do. ‘The other side of 50?’ It’s a great place to start!
